Maternity Prep Guide

How to Prepare to Have the Best Session Experience Possible

If you feel like you need a spray tan, please do not spray yourself. It can be extremely tricky to edit spray tans evenly on skin so it’s suggested that you use a highly trained professional if you must.

Please make sure that you’re happy with your nails. Nude or neutral polish is usually best.

Before Your Session

Day of your Session

The day of your session please hydrate with electrolytes and water leading up to our shoot and make time to eat. You’ll be holding poses and you don’t want to cramp or feel lightheaded. Having snacks on hand is always a great idea too!

It is best to wear baggy/loose clothing before your session to avoid and sock, legging or jean marks on your skin because this can be difficult to edit afterwards.

Just a quick reminder to shave if possible.

If you are taking advantage of having your hair and makeup done with our HMUA please arrive with a clean, moisturized face and hair that was washed the day before.

Make sure to moisturize your body as well.

Go Commando! Kidding, but really! Panties can create harsh panty lines in the worst way and they can be impossible to remove in post editing. Be prepared to drop them if we can see them creasing your wardrobe!

What to Bring

Please bring a set of slippers or flip flops to keep your feet off the cold floor when not on set.

If you have a nude, strapless bra please bring it along with nude panties. I supply nude nipple coverings and nude panties so don't worry if you don’t have these!  If you’re wanting more modern images please bring a black bra and matching panties. I supply black panties as well if you need them.

Wardrobe and accessories are provided but please feel free to bring any jewelry that you wish to use.

Children, babies and dads

Please make sure to cut and clean everyone’s nails and to wipe faces and noses just before we start shooting.

It can be incredibly helpful to bring along an extra person to help make the babies and children smile. Bring someone they love.

For Boys and Dads, bring two looks/outfits, a light and dark look.  For the lighter look, little boys and dads are best to wear jeans or light colored chinos. This can be paired with a white/beige/grey shirt.

For a darker look, jeans or dark slacks with black or grey shirts will look great. Everyone can be barefoot. If you prefer to have everyone in shoes that’s fine.

Dads, please remember to remove keys, wallets, phones from your pockets and sunglasses from your head. Also, consider NOT wearing your Apple Watch. they seem high tech now but will be the first thing to date your photographs. Just a thought!

For little girls, I supply dresses to coordinate with mom but feel free to bring anything you like. Also, make sure to pin her hair so it doesn’t fall in front of her face.

For babies, I supply outfits to coordinate with mom but feel free to bring anything you like as well. No shoes are needed for baby.

Commonly Asked Questions:

HOW LONG WILL MY SESSION LAST?

Most maternity sessions last about 2 hours but it can take a bit longer depending on how many family members are joining us. Add an hour and a half if you are having your hair and makeup done by our HMUA.

WHO CAN I INCLUDE IN MY PHOTOS?

Anyone is welcome! Just remember to keep the session intimate and only include those who mean the most to you. Let me know before the session if any other family members will be joining us.

Fur babies are welcome! I understand how important these fur babies can be and love including them in family portraits for families that would treasure these types of images.

Siblings are always a focus of my maternity sessions. I want to capture this exact moment in your family portraits.

AFTER THE SESSION

Soon after the session, with your permission, I typically upload one sneak peek onto my social media platforms.

Within one week we will schedule our ordering appointment via Zoom. Anyone who will be financially responsible should attend. Together, we will select your digital images and the images you’d like to include in your album and wall art.

Your final, digital images will be delivered to you via a downloadable link once your artwork has been delivered to your home.

Printed albums/canvases/framed art take about 4-6 weeks to be printed and delivered to your home.

Please feel free to text Tiffany at 832-748-6427 if you have any questions or concerns about your session.
